Joe & Phil recently joined Tim Burgess for a listening party to talk about the brand new album Drastic Symphonies, recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. They go through this record of reimagined classics with the help of orchestral arranger Eric Gorfain, speaking about how they managed to take some of classic rock’s greatest songs and give them a new classical edge.
“We use backing vocals as an instrument and when you put it with strings, just sonically, it just sounds beautiful. When you hear a choir in an orchestra as well, it kind of has that thing. We’ve got our own choir – we’re Def Leppard, so it’s it really works in that context as well. We were just blown away with that.”
